C&A Custom Stitching Embroidery moved into its store located at 113 W. Kingsmill in November 2020, approximately two years after starting in 2018.
The storefront gave C&A a physical presence in the community and only helped their business grow.
âA lot of people didn’t even know we were here until we got the storefront,â co-owner Callie Odell said. âThe subscription to the box increased so much that we no longer had room to pack it in the hangar. We now ship to over 18 states and ran out of space. “
The subscription box is one of C&A’s most popular items and is the perfect item for athletic moms in the stands.
âIt’s good for athletic moms, grandmothers and female sports fans,â Odell said. âWe personalize it in their team colors and there are high school teams, recreation teams, traveling teams, and so on. You get four to five articles a month and that’s something different every time. We do a lot of monograms and try to find props and cool things that we can use while you watch your kids play.
The sets are suitable for any sport, group, martial arts, etc.
Odell and his co-owner April Dyer didn’t have to go far to get inspiration from these boxes, as the couple have seven children between them, most of them very involved in the sport.
âWe’re at the tournaments every weekend,â Odell said. “We go to basketball games and have three kids in high school, two kids in college, coaching wives and everything.”
There are also small boxes for the youngest sports fans.
âWe have a lot of little girls who steal things from their mothers’ boxes,â Odell said. âSo we made the bit boxes. “
C&A Custom Stitching does embroidery on blankets, hats, scarves, clothing, etc. They can also put together letter jackets from start to finish.
âWe order the letter jackets and we embroider, make the patches in-house custom made to whatever you want,â Odell said. âWe have dog patches, car patches, memory patches and we’ve also extended chenille (the court-based texture on the patches) to clothing. We can do chenille on hats, sweatshirts etc.
C&A also offers ‘high’ sports equipment for those who need to be relaxed before rushing for a sporting event.
âThese are spirit clothes and team colors so you can go from work to the game,â said Odell. âThat way you can look good, but still go to the game and wear it to both. Polos, dress shirts, etc.
Dyer said their new downtown location suited them perfectly.
âDowntown sort of chose us,â Dyer said. âIt was just the perfect little place. We didn’t expect that to happen. We just ran into it.
