PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) — Mosley senior shortstop Emily Pitts doesn’t know much about free time, but she does know how to handle business on and off the court. This Dolphin is the President of Diamond Girls, a member of Pep Club, BETA Club, and Key Club, has been taking dual-enrollment classes since his sophomore year, and maintains a 3.9 GPA.
“I mean, not just in high school, but once you get to college, it reflects once you’re there and it’s important to have a good education to stay stable over the years.” Emily told me, knowing her high school resume is preparing her for the future. “Going on, especially during the season, you have a very busy schedule and throughout college you are going to continue to have that busy schedule. But you’re going to have classes in addition to your extracurricular activities, so it’s good to be used to this busy schedule, it’s a smooth transition. Emily’s head softball coach is Katie Lopes, who tells us Emily is establishing herself as a leader.
“She has big shoes to fill. We lost some kids last year, but she steps in and does a great job. She is vocal. She leads by example. She does everything we expected of her. Coach Lopes hopes to see Emily again in the future. “I see her working. Maybe hopefully come back one day and maybe help the assistant coach and go from there. I know she is going to do great things in life.
