Long Wharf Supply Co. is a clothing brand that focuses on sustainability. Additionally, the clothing brand is focused on creating products that have a clean, modern aesthetic and everyday functionality.

The motivation of the brand is to recycle and create. “Every piece we make helps reseed coastal oyster reefs that naturally filter seawater in the places that matter most to us. Through this continued effort, we hope to reduce waste, change the narrative, and help clean up our coastal waterways for the next generation. “That’s what founder Mike Lamagna had to say on the brand’s website.

Who is the founder?

Mike Lamagna is the founder of Long Wharf Supply Co. Lamagna studied finance at Merrimack College, according to his LinkedIn. Growing up by the sea, that was an integral part of who he is, as he describes his young self as “a salty, sandy, fish-and lobster-loving beach baby.”

However, over the years he has also come to realize the sheer amount of plastic waste in the ocean. In a conversation with Maine The Way, he explained how the brand came about. “The industry as a whole may be saturated, but I actually think there are very few players today who have an authentic voice, who haven’t sold, or who are really passionate about it. they create. I was working for a successful fashion / retail company. entrepreneur in New York City, so I regularly followed brands and didn’t think anyone was doing it right. ” he explained.

“I had no connection with the brands that were rooted in other parts of the country or that lacked an authentic sense of life around historic seaports. I thought there was an opportunity to tell some of these seaport stories and build a brand around the communities where I grew up. In terms of product, I’ve always looked for pieces that weren’t made for my grandparents or were not made with cheap materials and bright neon pinks / greens. I found myself constantly looking for clothes / accessories that would go from city to seaport. To fill this void, I started Long Wharf. he added.

Long Wharf Supply Co. has a huge range of products, from clothing to accessories, all of which can be purchased from the brand’s website. Accessories start at $ 28, while clothes start at $ 128.

Where is the Long Wharf Supply Co. now?

The brand is currently promoting its collection – The SeaWell â„¢ ️ Sweater, which is created from recycled oyster shells and recycled water bottles. The clothes use 5-6 oyster shells and eight water bottles for production, preventing them from going to landfills. The collection also reseeds up to 30 oysters and naturally filters 1,500 gallons of seawater each day.
