Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher mocked for becoming the face of Clarks shoes
FRESH After giving an interview to the retirees’ bible Reader’s Digest, former wild rock man LIAM GALLAGHER is even further into old age.
I learned that the former OASIS hellraiser had signed up to be the new face of Clarks, the favorite shoe brand for school kids and sensible middle-aged men.
The singer started filming a commercial for them this week and will expand the shoe business despite being notoriously uncool.
A source said: “Liam is approached to do a lot of different things, so it’s quite odd that Clarks is the company he’s chosen to campaign with.
“He’s still desperately trying to look cool and edgy, but now he’s going to help sell regular work shoes.”
“That doesn’t exactly fit the idea that he’s a rock star.”
‘I don’t want to feel shitty’
“Liam began work on an advertisement this week, which is set to air later in the year on TV and online.
“They paid him an exorbitant sum, but it seems Liam actually thought it was a good thing to do for his image.”
The deal comes after the star revealed he had given up partying because he ‘can’t handle’ big nights.
Liam – who is currently awaiting double hip replacement surgery – told Reader’s Digest: “That voice, which was very distant, said, ‘Go to bed. You’re not going out tonight’ is now very loud.
“Years ago it would have been like, ‘You what? I beg your fucking pardon?
“These days it’s, ‘Relax. You’ve had your share.” I listen to that voice a lot more. I don’t want to feel shit anymore.
“Or break other hearts. I’m almost 50, I want to have good times, not shitty times.
“I would love to get rid of my boobs all the time, but I can’t stand it.”
If that’s what he wants to spend his time doing now, it’s really the end of the road for him as a credible rock ‘n’ roller.
Werther’s Originals better get going fast — I just found them their next ambassador.
As Noel gets a Wonderwall…
kylie black up and coming
THERE’S NO STOP Kylie Minogue after her whirlwind visit to Glastonbury.
She watched from the side of the stage at Worthy Farm as Diana Ross performed in the Sunday Legends slot – three years after the Princess of Pop performed it herself.
Now busy, Kylie flew to Morocco where she wore this black outfit at a Louis Vuitton jewelry launch.
She revealed that Glasto held a special place in her heart, as her performance in 2019 made her feel like she was finally being celebrated by audiences and critics alike.
In bucking that trend, Kylie said: “It’s kind of been a lifelong process.
CALVIN CALLS IN THE STARS
CALVIN HARRIS has really rinsed out his repertoire for his new album because it’s packed with stars.
The Scottish DJ has announced that he will release Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 – his first album in five years – on August 5 featuring collaborations with Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg and Normani.
He shared a full list of people he’s worked with online, which also includes Charlie Puth, Pusha T, Tinashe, Halsey, Offset, Busta Rhymes, Latto, 21 Savage and Jorja Smith, in addition to his previously released Dua Lipa. Potions track.
Calvin is a busy guy because he juggled record preparations with his weekly Friday night residency at Ibiza’s megaclub Ushuaia.
After tonight’s show, he will head to Glasgow’s Hampden Park tomorrow for a comeback gig. At least he can afford a private jet to avoid airline delays.
“To really feel like ‘I did this’ was Glastonbury in 2019 – to play in the legends slot.”
Funny money, Kath
SHE has a habit of making others laugh, and that talent made Katherine Ryan laugh all the way to the bank.
The Irish-Canadian comic has paid itself a £1.15million dividend after the company that runs its business pocketed £1.36million last year.
According to new accounts, the TV favorite has also awarded itself £470,000 for the previous 12 months.
Katherine – who celebrated her 39th birthday yesterday with a day in London at Wimbledon tennis – has seen her star rise over the past five years thanks to appearances on TV shows 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Would I Lie To You?, Mock The Week and Taskmaster.
In 2020, she released her own Netflix series The Duchess – a raunchy comedy based on her life in London – and she also had two specials on the streaming service.
Then, in another big money maker, Katherine released an Amazon Prime series last month called Backstage With Katherine Ryan, in which she combined her own stand-up gags with behind-the-scenes gossip from fellow comedians.
Just last week, she was pictured filming the new Sky rom-com series Romantic Getaway with fellow comedian Romesh Ranganathan.
Before long, Katherine will be reaping even more, as she is due to resume her Missus stand-up tour across the UK in September.
There’s just no stopping it.
Good like that Ghetts
The GRIME Ghetts rapper is already hard at work on the follow-up to last year’s Mercury Prize-nominated album, Conflict Of Interest.
He performed a gig on the roof of Shoreditch House in east London to celebrate the launch of audio company Bowers & Wilkins’ new Px7 S2 headphones – and now plans to take inspiration from the event.
After asking the crowd for words to include in a freestyle rap, he confessed, “I’m going to do this. . . then I go to the studio.
