Restaurants to take your mom to in Burlington for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a time to thank mothers for all they do.

After all, the clothes are washed, dinner is on the table each night, and they sit in the stands in the rain watching their kids play sports.

Local restaurants are bracing for the inevitable influx of families looking to honor their mothers by giving them some much-needed rest from cooking and washing up.

Here is a sample of the restaurants open on Mother’s Day. Some will serve a traditional brunch or a special menu. Others will offer their usual excellent dishes.

Customers may want to move quickly, as some restaurants require reservations and seats fill up quickly.

Gator’s Grill & Spirits

Where: 3313 Agency St.

When: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

What: Mother’s Day specials will be a 10-ounce prime rib with a choice of potatoes, soup, salad, or coleslaw, and smothered chicken on fettuccini noodles with onion, peppers, and broccoli . Refried green beans will be the special appetizer.

Reservations are strongly recommended, as places are starting to fill up.

Wake N Bake Breakfast Company

Where: 713 Jefferson St.

When: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What: Special menu items will be offered. The terrace will be open.

Reservations are not required.

Burlington Bent River Brewing Co.

Where: 500 Jefferson St.

When: Seats are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

What: Brunch buffet.

Reservations are preferred as places fill up quickly.

The Buffalo Tavern

Where: 2016 S. Main St., near Crapo Park.

When: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

What: Full menu and a weekly feature.

Reservations are not required, but are strongly encouraged.

When: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

What: Kid-friendly chain known for its pastries, breakfasts, and other American standards in a restaurant-like setting.

When: 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

What: Chinese buffet. Special items will include crawfish, roast beef, sausages and ham.

When: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

What: Mexican cuisine. Meals include free fries and salsa.

Around the area

  • Union Block, 111 W. Monroe St., Mount Pleasant, will host a special brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 7. Main Street Mount Pleasant will serve pastries, chicken salad sliders, French toast casserole and a selection of sweets. . Coffee, iced tea, pink lemonade and mimosas will be available.   • The West Point Fireworks Committee will be hosting a free Mother’s Day Donation Breakfast from 7-10 a.m. on Sunday, May 8 at the West Point American Legion, 309 Fifth St., serving eggs, French toast, fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy, links of sausages, coffee, milk, orange juice, as well as mimosas for moms. Organizers are hoping for good turnout, as the cost of fireworks is up 20% from 2021.
