Bangladesh is one of the largest centers of fabrics and textiles. Fashion brands are poised and rising in the industry owing to the unbridled design talent that is flourishing in the country.
Many new faces and industry players have already begun to fill a gap in the market by catering to the niche segment of people who don’t want to compromise comfort for aesthetics.
One of the hottest fashion brands is Rise. Their unique blend of streetwear fashion and deshi cultural values strikes the right balance for everyday wear.
After returning to Bangladesh, Founder and CEO Faheem Mosharraf launched Rise and opened his first physical store in 2017, which started as a brand primarily focused on streetwear. The brand has since grown to include ethnic, casual and sportswear for men and women.
Faheem has been interested in fashion since his high school days. Street culture played a huge role in his life and influenced his aesthetic sensibility.
This teenage propensity has remained with him to this day. Faheem realized that Bangladesh hadn’t really tasted local street fashion and so decided to bring it to his people.
He then made a foray into a local fashion brand in hopes of improving the quality and awareness of street fashion.

Rise didn’t go down the generic fast fashion path. One of Faheem Mosharraf’s core principles is that he wouldn’t put anything on the shelves that he didn’t carry himself.
As time passed and the brand grew, he was self-aware enough to know that it wasn’t a feasible bar to live up to all the time, but to this day, he still tries to ensuring that every style offered by Rise is up to par. the brand for all types of fashion enthusiasts.
The Rise team shares many similarities with their target demographic, which makes them uniquely capable of achieving the ultimate brand goal.
A city dweller’s Eid
The Eid collection from Rise promises an extremely exciting journey to new horizons through stunning designs and free-flowing fabric constructions that embody the essence of freedom.
When it comes to women’s ethnic collection, they emphasize different designs like angrakha, kaftan and cowl neck designs.
The casual collection for women offers wide variations of patterns like empire waist, wrap and scalloped edge pattern. Additionally, they also incorporate different sleeve styles like bishop, bow tie, and ruffle sleeve, while focusing on fabric variations like cotton, viscose, silk, and crepe.
They are also renowned for their men’s collection. To continue this legacy this festive season, outfits feature geometric, architectural and stenciled embroidery.
Their most popular denim collection features eye-catching styles and details including raw denim mixed with dark, medium and light washes with distressed effects, dusty denim, color flashes and destroyed rips.
then and now
The first hurdle in Rise’s journey was the style clash their brand posed to the fashion zeitgeist of the time. Urban clothing and streetwear had not made their mainstream debut in Dhaka’s fashion scene. But the trend and acceptance of urban clothing continues to grow.
Price sensitivity is perhaps the biggest barrier to sales. Rise is a strong believer in quality and craftsmanship, but chasing those two things is expensive.
“Saving money with our products is not an option we choose to take, and therefore unable to offer the most lucrative prices on the market either. But we are working to ensure our standards are maintained,” said Faheem Mosharraf.
The tastes of the Bangladeshi fashion market are constantly changing in an increasingly globalized and constantly interconnected world. New types of fashion inspired by other cultures and media basically ensure that Bangladeshi consumers are constantly evolving, which is the philosophy of the Rise brand.
Rise’s customer base continues to grow and they claim to have already reached most of their target market. Still, the company believes there is more to reach and brand awareness.
As Covid slowly fades, the fashion industry as a whole may return to its previous growth rate before the world comes to a standstill.
