The best clothes to give to veterans this winter – Resident Press

The cold months are fast approaching and many veterans are not wearing the right clothes to keep them warm this season. If you accumulate a new winter wardrobe and have no use for your old winter clothes, donate them to veterans. Here is a list of the best clothes to give to veterans this winter.

Coats and Sweaters

It’s cold in the winter, and if you have a change of coats and sweaters to donate, consider donating your used clothing to veterans for something warm to wear. Then, as it gets colder, veterans won’t have to worry about dissipating their health when they’re out in the cold.

Hats, scarves and gloves

In addition to coats and sweaters, hats, scarves, and gloves are needed to keep others warm. You’ve probably heard that it’s important to cover your head in winter; it is especially important to protect your head at this time of year to avoid frostbite on the ears and nose.

Plus, scarves are essential for preventing chapped lips and illnesses such as pneumonia and strep throat. Gloves also work well to prevent cracked and dry skin. So if you have old clothes that you don’t need this year, take them to a donation center.

Boots

Instead of giving away used socks, give away slightly used boots. Shoes are often overlooked because they don’t seem to be a valuable asset to many, especially in winter. But the boots help keep a person’s feet warm when they trudge through the snow after a long day’s work.

Plus, donating boots and other shoes to keep feet warm during the winter can help a person move throughout the day without worrying about being cold. Every contribution to a charity is appreciated at the donation drop-off points.

Kids clothing

Many military families who leave in the winter may not have the appropriate clothing for their children. We can help provide a sustainable winter wardrobe by donating clothing to the children of veterans.

When they get home from school or out to play, they’ll be delighted with comfy coats, long-sleeved tops and pants to keep them warm. Additionally, the donation of children’s clothing can help military families save money by purchasing more than they need for their children.

As we enter a new season, let’s take a close look at our wardrobe and donate these items to veterans in need. In addition to giving our list of the best clothing to give to veterans this winter, continue to donate used clothing throughout the year. For every donation you make, you help give a Veteran a new outfit or shoes to wear.
